Iron IV Infusions.

At Agile: Replenish your iron. Restore your energy.

Low iron can affect much more than your bloodwork. It may contribute to fatigue, reduced exercise tolerance, brain fog, shortness of breath, headaches, hair shedding, restless legs, and feeling generally unlike yourself.

IV iron delivers iron directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system and allowing the body to begin replenishing iron stores without relying on intestinal absorption.

Is IV iron right for you?

IV iron may be considered when:

  • Bloodwork confirms iron deficiency or iron-deficiency anaemia.

  • Oral iron has not improved iron levels sufficiently.

  • Oral iron causes significant gastrointestinal side effects.

  • Iron absorption may be impaired.

  • Iron replacement is needed more efficiently.

  • Ongoing blood loss or increased iron requirements make oral supplementation difficult.

Your treatment plan begins with a review of your symptoms, medical history, medications, and relevant laboratory testing. IV iron is not appropriate for every person with fatigue or low ferritin, and identifying the underlying cause of iron deficiency is an important part of care.

A personalized approach to iron deficiency

Our naturopaths take a comprehensive approach to iron deficiency and related symptoms. Alongside IV iron when appropriate, she may assess factors such as:

  • Menstrual or other ongoing blood loss.

  • Dietary iron intake.

  • Gastrointestinal symptoms and possible absorption concerns.

  • Pregnancy, postpartum needs, or other increased iron requirements.

  • Inflammation or chronic health conditions.

  • Medication and supplement use.

  • The need for follow-up laboratory testing.

The goal is not simply to increase an iron number. It is to understand why your iron is low, support safe replenishment, and monitor your response over time.

What to expect?

Before your infusion, the naturopath will review your laboratory results and determine whether IV iron is a suitable option. Your infusion will be administered in the clinic, with monitoring throughout the appointment.

Some people notice improvement in energy and related symptoms as their iron levels recover, while others require additional time or further evaluation. Follow-up testing may be recommended to assess your response and determine whether additional treatment is needed.

As with any intravenous treatment, side effects and risks are possible. These may include temporary changes at the injection site, headache, nausea, muscle or joint discomfort, flushing, or other infusion-related reactions. Serious reactions are uncommon, but appropriate precautions and monitoring are used during treatment.
